Termly Overview

 

This English termly overview demonstrates my achievement of the following descriptors for Standards 2.2, 2.3, 3.6 and 6.1.

As you can see in the unit document to the left, there is a series of weekly sequenced focuses to develop understanding of content. In the early years, we use the strategy talk, draw, talk, write and this is evident in week 1. As the weeks progress, you will see where and how I moved through the GRR model with the students. This sequence is evident throughout the unit plan when writing (2.2). These pieces of writing were created using knowledge of the curriculum to support the achievement standards for assessment in both prep and year 1 (high lighted in blue). The unit plan is broken into prep and year 1 components to differentiate the curriculum content. As preps focus on beginning writing behaviours, their writing is told through drawings and simple informative facts. While year ones 'create short texts for a small range of purposes' using topic specific word choice to inform the reader (2.3).

During 2023 with my mentor, I created 3 personal learning goals in Semester One that related to the Australian Standards of Teaching. Majority of these goals were attainable Literacy and Oral Language goals with set time frames for results to be seen in the classroom. These goals were achieved and reviewed with a mentor and principal in Semester Two. A reflection can be found on how these were implemented into the classroom. The goals and reflections are located in the screenshots below (3.6 and 6.1).
